Frequently Asked Questions

Is Bolivia a safe country to travel in?

Bolivia is one of the safest countries to travel in South America, it is generally safe but always be careful, especially in the crowded city areas. Petty criminals sometimes use aggressive tactics against foreigners, including slashing bags and pockets. Use common sense, do not necessarily expose your cameras or binoculars, and do not carry expensive jewellery or watches. Have your camera hidden in a daypack, and take it out only when you need to take picture or want to film something. Do not carry your valet or important travel documents in the back pocket of your trousers; generally try not to carry anything in your outside pockets. Do not leave your belonging unattended. It is recommended to use hotel safes to store your valuables. Like anywhere else in the world, there are certain parts of the cities of which you should stay clear off, especially at night. It is not wise to walk on the streets alone late at night. The threat from terrorism is very low. There are no terrorist groups or violent anti-government groups operating in the country.
