Day 9 - Drive from Totora to Samaipata via Pojo

We leave Totora early in the morning, return to the old Santa Cruz road and drive east. The road here follows the contours of the Andes (Cordillera Occidental) and runs over mountains, hills and valley in an altitude of roughly 3000m. The mountain range of Cordillera Cochabamba divides here the dry mountain valleys in the west and the humid valleys in the east; we are driving basically along the division ridge, at some instances having the opportunity to view the humid eastern valleys which are here protected in Carrasco and Amboro National Parks, and western dry valleys. Half way through our day’s journey we arrive to the little colonial village of Pojo, which has been forgotten by the passing time, little visited by foreigners, this place presents some good photo opportunities. There are ruins of a tiny Inca fort above the town and little muddy hot springs near the village.
