11:15-12:45 Short Hike in the Choro area

We will take a short walk along a local path trailing the Huarinilla river through some tropical forest and very primitive plantations of citrus trees and coffee, with butterflies and lots of tropical flora of the area. There is also a good possibility of spotting some of the local birds. This area is skirting the boundaries of Cotapata National Park. There are views of the Choro inca trail at the other side of the Huarinilla valley.


12:45-14:00 Lunch at Rio Selva Resort

We will have a lunch here in this five star hotel resort set beautifully next to the Huarinilla river, which appears out of nowhere in the middle of nowhere.


14:00-16:00 Rio Selva – Tocaña (33 km – 20.5 mi)

We shall leave Rio Selva Hotel and following the Huarinilla river, we will connect with the main road which goes to Amazonia, after several kilometres we will cross the river (now called Coroico river), and start to climb up towards the Tocaña village. We will pass tropical fruit plantations and coca fields on the way. Tocaña is one of the few villages in Bolivia which is populated by the descendents of the African slaves. These people have accepted in majority the Aymara customs, and thus they dresses and live like the surrounding Aymara population.


16:00-17:30 Tocaña – Coroico (25km – 15.5 mi)

Coroico is one of the most picturesque villages in Bolivia. It has a pleasant climate due to its location and altitude of 1800 m (5905 f). We will drive up to the Hotel Esmeralda, where we will check-in and have a rest. Those who feel fresh can go for a short stroll through the village, after which the diner will be served.
