The local authorities in La Paz have called for a strike in La Paz and a mass meeting in El Alto on 20 July. Travel is likely to be disrupted. Otherwise the roads seem to be free of blockades.

The blockades by the mining cooperatives have been lifted, however the future remains uncertain.

From 0.00 hours yesterday, the mining syndicates started blockades in 16 strategic points on the national road network. Also the roads to Chile and Argentina are blocked. Some of the places being blockaded are: Sica Sica, Patacamaya and Konani (road La Paz-Oruro ); Unduavi (road La Paz-Beni – road to Corocio); Caihuasi (road Cochabamba-Oruro); Machacamarquita y Machacamarca (road Oruro-Potosí); y Cotagaita (road Potosí-Sucre). Negotiations are in progress, but no solution in sight.
